I had been suffering from chronic back pain for almost a year when I came across an article about Alexander Technique (AT)and decided to contact Itsuko. I was so surprised after the first lesson. My back was so tight and knotted from sitting at work and in the car. Using AT relaxation methods, she showed me how to let all of the unnecessary tension go. It was like magic. I was so surprised how much better I felt. In the following lessons she taught me how to be more in tune with my body and recognize the triggers of my back pain and tension. Whether it was office work or yard work, she was so helpful developing creative strategies to address every pain trigger I would identify. By learning to sit, stand and move the Alexander way I was now addressing the root cause and not just the symptoms.
I recently had the opportunity to put everything I’d learned to the test on an 11 hour plane flight. A year ago it would have left me in pain for days, but by using the techniques Itsuko taught me I got through it with no problems! I truly enjoy AT lessons with Itsuko. The lessons are always fun and I always learn something new.
